Your Emails
Updated August 8, 2006
(Emails have
not been edited for spelling or grammar.)
I would like to say congratulations on your
new seat at a station that has put a local talent to work and plays quality
music. Over the years WRKR just went south with it's unprofessional, child
like, inside humor. Mike and diane can do better. The other guy
looks and sounds like he came from the curb. I started to listen to WLAV
in the morning to rid myself of the content, that even my ears bleed when Cluck
and gang get started. Then at wrok the ZUU is where it is for the day.
Thank you to the program director or manager for giving the local sports guru,
K-Wings voice and fishing god a fresh start. In closing, I would like to
say the HEY DAY of the Rocker was when Cecil Fielder didn't get MVP and you kept
your word and took that long walk. A station without real people is just
anothe station. Too many corporate VIPs only look at the bottom line.
To all the listeners out there I would like to say please support the local
businesses. It's these peole who readlly care about West Michigan.
Bob
Glad to hear you're back Scotty Bud it was
definatly good to hear your voice on the radio when I got in my truck to leave
work. Now all you need to do is get them to crank up the power ant the
station so we can get you to com in in a bit clearer down here in Lawton.
Thanks, Stacey A.
Congrats to you. I wish you success,
happiness and peace of mind. I commend you for waiting until the right fit
came along, as hard as it was, it was the right thing to do. AND you don't
have to give up that family life that you recently became accustomed to.
That's HAVIN IT ALL!!! You go Scotty Bud!! R K Who ?????
Welcome Home Scotty Bud Melvin!!!!
Lori H.
Scotty Bud, I was a listener of yours since
you stared at your previous (and mine) station. I won several tickets
during y listening time. After you left I quite listening to them...I am
glad you are back on the radio. Been following your web site every day to
keep up with what you are doing. I tried to tune into WZUU today but down
here in Constantine it didn't come in every well. Is it a low per station?
Hope not Will be listening to you as often as I can. thanks, from
one of your fans,
Tom M.
Hey dude, you rocked my monday afternoon in
the warm sun. rock on!!!!
Mikey Watervleit
Just wanted to say that it's great that you
are back on the ari. Been following your blog...needless to say from all
of us former employees...there is life after Cumulus. It's just plain sad
over there. Best of luck to you at your new home (plus they play better
rock anyway) We'll be listening.
Stacey
Welcome Home Scotty Bud. Sure is
good to hear your voice through the ole GM standard speakers in the car again.
Glad to hear you've found a place that values the employee and contributions
they make and not the bottom line. Just wanted to mention one
thing...through out this whole ordeal over the last eight months, one thing has
really stuck out to me. That is the fact that you are a top notch guy.
No backstabbing, no vindictive trite remarks, no bashing and slandering anyone
(specifically anyways) Of course things sucked there for a while but if
this were Hollywood, you would've been approached to sell your story to either
book deals or movie deals. Glad you're back on FM and more importantly,
that' you're still the same ole Scotty Bud.
Sheila M.
(*note from Scotty
Bud - I wasn't totally innocent of the bashing)

Check out this email someone sent my old radio
station. They shared it with me. It's unedited. Ouch.
Hello Mike, Diane , I hope this finds you well and enjoying the New Year. I
wrote you a couple months ago with some concerns about the morning show and
you were gracious enough to write back the next day. You told me that your
ratings had dropped to a "critical low" as you put it and that you were
trying to get back to the "in your face" type morning show that you had in the
past that made the morning show what it was. Even though I wasn't really
enjoying the morning show, after the changes, I thought I'd give you a chance
for awhile to see if it grows on me.
I have listened to the morning show since you came on the air so many years
ago. You have been a fixture by my desk at work each morning. You have been to
my house to cook breakfast and then cleaned up afterwards. You have given me
numerous prizes and tickets. I was the proud winner of your first "puck push"
at wing stadium, I finished 3rd in your first annual Texas Hold-em Tournament
and everyone that knows me knows what station I listen to. What I'm trying to
say is that you have been much more than a radio show to me over the years.
You've been a friend, a smile on a rainy day, something I looked forward to
each morning. That's what makes writing this letter so hard. I can't take it
any more, your morning show has become everything I hate about morning shows.
Stupid skits, fake laughter, high school locker room jokes and everything
sounds rehearsed and phoney. I'm no radio expert, I only know what I like and
don't like, and I will say this, I don't know if Scotty Bud was the problem
but I do know that Warren Cluck is not the solution. He is the number 1 reason
I will no longer listen to the morning show. In a word, he Sucks. I will never
believe that your listeners are happier with the new format and that your
ratings are improving and if they were critical before they have to be on life
support now. I will continue to listen to WRKR after 10:00 because I
have always enjoyed the other DJ's and the music is first rate. However, my
mornings and radio from 6 till 10 will be somewhere else. I'm sorry, I tried
,but I just can't take it anymore. Good luck with your future.
Sincerely, Dale

Hey, Scott-
I just finished reading through some of the newer e-mails you just posted on
your web site, and I couldn't agree more with the gentleman that said the
morning show is no longer what it was, that it seems fake, and to me a little
bit corny. I was so happy when Diane returned to the
Morning Show, and since you have left, the show has gone downhill. I have
tried listening, but after listening this morning, I quickly tuned out as
"Cluck" (have you checked out this guy's picture on the WRKR website??????)
was saying something about some furry panties.....or something. He's not
funny........and the three of them don't have the chemistry needed. I will no
longer be tuning in to the morning show.....it no longer has the genuine true
"heart and soul" that made the Rocker Morning Show unique.......good luck to
you with whatever your future holds.........

Scott,
Well we're disappointed here at your decision not to bash WRKR or at least give
some hints as to what happened, but I suppose it was the (slightly) mature thing
to do. We had fun reading the updates on your page at lunch today, especially
your very candid recap of the morning show girls, lol. You asked what do we
listen to now? Still not WRKR. My officemate Betsy just commented again on how
retarded that new guy is and what's the 'draw' there. Neither of us can figure
that one out. We'll be looking for you to crop up somewhere else. Keep
your sight updated regularly please and good luck to you.
Regards, Matt

Scott-
I just had to write and say hello. We, my husband and I, have been listening to
RKR for at least 9 or 10 years now. Ever since you left, the show just sucks!
Really, it has gone straight down hill. Diane's a whiner, Kluck is absolutely
stupid and annoying and Mike (ed: edited) should be ashamed of
himself for stooping to the level he's at now. Obviously with a wife and four
kids, he's just worried about keeping a job and putting food on the table. I
can't believe he really enjoys the way the morning show is now. Needless to
say, the radio station dial was tuned elsewhere this morning. We will never
listen to RKR again. I know the show was never for "younger" ears but I'd
listen to it in the morning with my two kids in the car. I know you rarely used
"objectionable" language but now it's as though no one can say one sentence
without using vulgarity. You know, after 20min of that, it gets old.
We wish you success in finding a home for your voice on the radio. I hope that
it will be local so we can listen to you again. Whatever you do, please don't
compromise who you are in an attempt to get listeners like RKR has done.
Best Wishes-
Sheila and Kevin

There were many times in the past years that I would listen to
the rants of one of the few people that I could actually agree with. I would
often feel free to e-mail you and share my own opinions for three reasons # 1 -
I'm a woman & we can't help but put our two cents in (which is usually closer to
ten) # 2 I wanted you to know that there are people that agree with you - But
mostly #3 You were always gracious enough to answer and it made ME feel like I
wasn't alone in my thoughts and opinions. I wanted to take a moment along
with so many others and say Thank You for everything that you have done. I
truly wish you all the happiness in this world, and I hope that someone is to
you what you will remain to all of us.

Hey Scotty Bud,
I just wanted to drop you an e-mail to let you know how much you are missed
here in my office. The morning show is nowhere near the same without you. In
fact most the time we just turn it off. I've listen to you since the beginning
and can't believe the let you go. I see hear on your web site you where going
to say a little more about why they didn't renew your contract, but I don't see
anything. So, why didn't they renew it? I think the station is going to
realize that it was a terrible mistake, the morning show is just not the same
and "cluck" really sucks. Hope to here from you. A used to be loyal listener.
Thank you
Eric

Scotty Bud - I began listening to your morning show about 6 years ago and in part because of your voice. It reminded me of someone from my past. That someone and I have since reunited after 17 years and I feel it's partly from hearing your voice every morning. It is so similar to his it made me realize how much I missed and loved him. I loved listening to your tirades, your laugh, your opinions, and "The Fisherman" (I can't even think of their names right now). The show will not be the same without you and will never be as good as when they had you. I wish you the best of luck in the future. If you stay in the radio business, please let us all know where to find you. Good luck and take care! Julie
I've been listening to you for over 15 years now...you've been with me thru my engagement, marriage, divorce, birth of my son....man, you been there thru it all!! Sorry that they didn't renew yourcontract...you will be sadly missed!! Good luck to you in all that you do!!
Judy G.
Good Bye and Good Luck Scotty Bud,
You'll be greatly missed !! I now have to find a new radio station to listen to in the mornings :( Either that or scrap some money together for that IPOD finally. Without you there is no Rocker Morning Show. I've had tears in my eyes all morning thinking about not hearing your voice and fantastic s and raves anymore. What a tremendous loss for RKR.
Best of luck always. I'll miss your voice.
Terri
Well Scott, To put it simply cumulus is losing 1 of their best hosts. I am going to miss your realism that you bring to the morning. I have been listening since the first day WRKR first broadcasted, and they will never find anyone to replace you, you are one of kind. All the best to you Scott, keep it real, I know you will. long time fan
Casey
Hey Scott, Yeah I think the first thing I said when I caught enough of the show to realize what was going on was, WHAT THE...? I've listened to RKR since the first week it was on when Jerry Lord was doing the morning show. Matter of fact, I've listened since it was WSEO back when I was in high school. One of the things I 've always enjoyed was when you'd talk about local places. Seems you hung around a lot of the places I did, although about 10 years later. I especially enjoyed the morning you mentioned Atwater Pond and Mrs. Kline's boat rentals. I fished there a couple of times, but my Dad practically lived there when he was a kid. I think Mrs Kline was like his second mother. So, bummer dude! I won't ask the specifics. I have a feeling you'll have plenty to say come January. Hope we'll still hear you at the Wings games, and that you'll be back on the air locally some time soon. Take a whole lotta luck!
Mike
Dear Scott, My Morning routine will not be the same without you. I will miss your s and raves!! Your sense of humor was the best. I will never forget your walk to Tiger Stadium, the rave voting bit about WalMart in Portage with the Sunset Lanes pencils!! You made the show. Whenever I hear AC/DC, Back in Black, I will think of you!! I wish you all the best, sleep in, enjoy your daughter, get in some quality fishing, and most of all take your time in making a decision on your next venture. Hope you will be able to stick around Portage to see the progress of the Oakland Hills project:) Or maybe another Boulevard built somewhere!! I have lived in Portage all my life and enjoyed your poking fun at things such as Woodbridge Hills!! Good Luck with your future...Sincerely, Kathy
Scotty Bud,
My name is Dan, I'm from Plainwell. Long time listener. The only thing I can compare your leaving RKR to is the final episode of Seinfeld and how I felt when it was over. Good luck to you in your future endeavor.
Sincerely, Dan
Just an average Joe here (actually mike) that you have spoken to for many years but never knew nor met. I started listening to YOUR show as a freshmen at Sturgis high school in 1990/91 and have listen to most mornings since. You where there during some dreadful morning drives to school. You where there on those morning drives to college. You where there after I became a father (twice) and driving so responsible every morning to work. And when nothing seemed normal anymore after my dad passed away this last spring you where still there on that morning drive returning back to work. And what a pleasant surprise when I and my family heard the mic fire up with your voice in wings stadium. I have been attending wings games since the early 80's and I must say you do a hell of a job! I know you have never met me and most likely never will. I just wanted you to know your voice carried a lot farther than even 50,000 watts took it!! We attend the wings on a regular basis and I look forward to still hearing you voice even if it is 12 hours later in the day then I am use to. So if some one at a wings game bumps into you sometime and says "how ya doing?" nice to met you I'm mike and by the way THANKS, you will know who it is! Take care, and enjoy your family while you have the chance.
A loyal and thankful small town "friend" Mike
Just wanted to drop ya a line and let ya know how much you were appreciated....I have been a loyal listener to your show for the past ten years or so....I have e-mailed ya a few times in the past about some local sport stories..and you were always very prompt and polite in returning my messages to let me know if ya heard about them yet...or what ya thought of them....I congratulate you for taking a strong, but honorable stance on all of this...I am sure the truth will come out eventually...but you have handled this with all the class and dignity one could possibly expect in such a situation...My family and I enjoy you at the K-Wings games..and i certainly hope that you will continue to do that...you do an excellent job there...You are a class act Scotty Bud...and we all could learn a little from the way you have handled this...I wish you the VERY best of luck....but I am sure you dont need it...you have all the skill and personality to not only land back on your feet...but taller and stronger than before....Please keep us all informed if you will be back onthe radio...or hopefully television anytime soon....(WWMT could certainly use someone of your talent)...Keep your chin up...and your balls in the fairway....and now that ya have some time on your hands...maybe we can hook up for some online poker........See ya Soon....Geno
