2009 Scotty Bud Bass Classic
Saturday July 25
@ Gull Lake
My annual charity bass tournament is coming up on Saturday July 25 at Gull Lake.
Click
HERE for the entry form. This year, we are giving out shirts to each
person who enters. Again this year, proceeds will go to Pretty Lake
Vacation Camp for Kids. Over the years, we have set them up with a new
boat and motor, over 100 life preservers, and new rods and reels so the kids can
fish.
The Scotty Bud Classic is part of Plainwell's Island City Festival again this
year. They give us plenty of parking spots, free lunch, and a place to
give out our awards under the big tent. Look for the TV commercial to air
soon, and I'll be talking about it on the morning show on 92.5 WZUU.
If you have never fished in a bass tournament, make this your first one.
It's for a good cause, on a great lake, and only $65 per two person team.
Plus we pay out 80 percent of the money to the top teams. If you have any
questions, throw me an email, or call my cell phone at 269-330-1887.

Night of Ghost Hunting May 9, 2009
I spent last night with the Southern Michigan Paranormal Group in Howell,
Michigan at Howell's Main Street Winery. I had a great time, and met some
really cool people. Unfortunately, I don't have any really awesome stories
to tell from the night. Some of the others had better experiences than I
did. But I did take some pictures and I still want to listen to some of
the audio I recorded.
Thanks to the crew I drove up there with: Dan, Eve, Deb, Denise, and Dyana. We
were joined by Claudine, Randy and Elizabeth when we got there. They
were fun and I want to thank them for inviting me. They know exactly what
they're doing, and I had a good time watching them throughout the night.
I'll be talking to them this week on the morning show, and you can hear what
happened from the experts. I'm hoping I'll get invited to another night of
fun. Special thanks to them for singing Happy Birthday to me at the end of
the night!

Fishing Trip April 27, 2009
We had a great time on the ZUU Fishing Trip to Lake St. Clair in Detroit over
the weekend with bass pro Kendall Ulsh and winner Tim Vanderhill. The
weather got rough half way through the day, so we called it off a little early.
Luckily, we got back just before the rains came. On the way back, we had
to save a young kid in a small boat who was getting beat up by the waves that
were coming into his boat.
Here are some photos.

WAKE UP, IT'S ME! April 12, 2009
Starting Monday morning, I will be on your radio in the morning once again, with
Scotty Bud In The Morning on 92.5 WZUU, Kalamazoo's
Real Rock Station.
Joining me will be longtime friend and co-worker Traver McLaughlin. Traver
started as my intern when I had a sports-talk show in the mid 90's. He
went on to become the voice of the Kalamazoo Kings, then went to Arizona State
to finish college. He also worked in sports-talk radio in Phoenix while he
was there.
The show will be local, heavy with sports, and we'll play some great
music. I will have my usual bent look and opinions on all things
Kalamazoo. Since I am actually from Kalamazoo (Portage actually), you can
be sure I'll have information and perspective that the others who aren't from
around here can't possibly have.
I would like to thank all of you who come here often, and continue to listen to
me on the radio. I cannot thank you enough for spending part of your day
with me. Many of you have been with me for over 20 years. Thanks. It's nice to know that you are on the other side off the
speakers.

Fun Night With Brian Regan March 14, 2009
Had a great night Saturday with Comedian Brian Regan, who was back in town for a
show at the State Theatre. This guy has been my favorite comedian for the
last 20 years. He's finally getting his due, with top selling dvds, and
sold out shows all over the US. Check out some of his act below. Brian's
brother Dennis opened for him, and he was very funny. He even worked a Paw
Paw joke into his act.

Haunted Kalamazoo!
February 4, 2009
I am excited to announce that the
West Michigan Ghost Hunters Society is going to
be putting together a new book called "Haunted Kalamazoo". Nicole, the
founder, has told me that they hope it will be out by Halloween. Some
proceeds may be going to the Kzoo Jaycees or one of their charities. They
host a Haunted Kalamazoo tour every October, which I think I'll be doing this
fall.
So, I will be helping them to promote the
book here and on the radio on 92.5 WZUU. In case you aren't aware, I am
fascinated by the thoughts of paranormal activity. I am hooked on the tv
shows, love reading about people's experiences, and overall can't get enough.
I would love to go on my first ever adventure sometime this year.
Here is how you can help: If you have
had any personal ghostly encounters in the Kalamazoo area, let me know,
and I will pass it along to the group. Keep in mind, it must be your
experience, and in the Kalamazoo area. I don't want to hear a story from
your brother's next door neighbor and his drunk college roommate's buddy who
knew a guy, there are plenty of those 'stories' on the internet. If you do
know of someone else who might have a story, put me in contact with them, and
I'll get it from them.
I know many of you have snuck into the old
Kalamazoo Insane Asylum on the hill near Douglas Avenue. I also know there
have been reports of haunted houses downtown, some in the student ghetto.
Email me your personal accounts or stories. Or you can call me while I am
on the air at 92.5 The ZUU. Thanks.
Michael Phelps, everyone's favorite Olympian, has admitted to smoking pot at a
party in November at the University of South Carolina. There is nothing I
like better than making fun of people who get nailed for smoking dope.
Many potheads feel that it's no big deal, even though, it is of course against
the law.
Phelps' excuse was that "I'm 23 years old...I acted in a youthful and
inappropriate way." Yeah, you're an idiot. Eight gold medals,
and you piss it all away. Nice going dufus.
I have never smoked pot in my life, and I am about as anti-drug as a person can
be. When you have reached the pinnacle of your sport or career, and then
throw it away for something that supposedly is no big deal, you don't deserve
dick.
The only thing worse than him smoking pot, was A) getting caught, and B) letting
someone take a photo of him doing it. I talked about this guy on the
radio during the Olympics. I knew he was a dork, and now I have my proof.

Cool Phone, Bad Battery January 12, 2009
So I got a new phone over the holidays. It is the Samsung Instinct. I like
it, but the battery is the worst of all time. I'm hoping I can find a
bigger and better one out there.
If you are thinking about getting the Samsung Instinct, it's a great phone.
Love the features. Just gotta do something about that battery. I've
never been one for the fancy phones. I have always had the cheapest, basic
cell phones. But I figured it was time to be wired up wherever I went.
